Knocking sound in dashboard impala.

Help. Ac making knocking noise I have a similar problem. I just bought a 2007 impala lt with the 3.5 L v6. There is no problem with the ac when its on but when I turn it off it makes a knocking noise from the passanger side for about 30 sec then stops. It ony does it after turning off the ac or vehicle.That sounds a lot like flimsy metal on solid metal vibration... The one heat shield that comes to mind is the one at the starter if this a 3.8L. ... Whenever you open a door it starts to tick like a mad man. Also, whenever you switch vents it ticks as well, switching to hot/cold makes it tick, and the passenger side ac/heat doesn't always switch.
